What's the difference between skin tone and undertone?
There is one simple difference between skin tone and undertone. Your skin tone changes throughout the year and throughout your life, whereas your undertone never changes.
Skin tone refers to the surface skin colour, determined by the amount of melanin found in the upper layer of your skin. So things typically describe like light, fair, medium, tanned, dark. Stand out in the sun too long and your skin tone changes! Your undertone on the other hand never changes, it is the natural hue underneath the skin. Your undertone will be either warm, cool, or neutral. Doesn't matter if you're using your summer or winter foundation, the undertone of both will be exactly the same.
What are the different undertones?
